Analysis of China’s export data of superhard materials and their products from January to April 2024
From January to April 2024, China exported 51,200 tons of superhard products, up 8.33% year-on-year; the export value was US$504 million; the export unit price was US$9.83/kg, down 4.43% year-on-year. Looking at April alone, China exported 13,200 tons of superhard products, up 0.47% year-on-year; the export value was US$132 million, down 2.42% year-on-year; the export unit price was US$9.99/kg, down 2.88% year-on-year. Against the backdrop of a weak global recovery and weakening external demand, superhard products have shown strong resilience, especially the export volume and unit price of turning tools, boring reamers, and stone grinding mills have increased significantly.
At the perspective of export regions, export destinations are highly concentrated. From January to April, the top ten destinations accounted for 52.49% of the total export volume and 62.22% of the total export value. Among them, India is still the largest export destination, with export volume and export value accounting for 22.05% and 12.97% respectively. In terms of export volume, the export volume of destinations such as Hong Kong, Vietnam, the United Arab Emirates, and Japan increased significantly year-on-year; in terms of export value, Vietnam and South Korea increased significantly year-on-year.
At the perspective of customs export statistics, the export volume of superhard materials from January to April still showed a trend of increasing volume and decreasing price. The unit price of processed diamonds decreased significantly year-on-year, and the overall industry competition was still relatively fierce. The export volume and price of superhard products increased year-on-year, while the unit price of exports decreased year-on-year. The decline in the unit price of exports shows that the overseas superhard products market is also becoming increasingly fierce. But overall, the overseas market demand and market size for superhard products are still increasing.
